Hi All,
I actually did this on the night of Tues, May 12th. 🙂 I apologize for not getting this up sooner, but you know…. the life of a mom can be unpredictable, but when there are also special needs involved… it really gets crazy sometimes.
I made these Crocheted Skulls last fall following the YouTube tutorial found here. But I wasn’t really sure how I wanted to use them…. so after making them I set them aside in my to do later pile. On Tuesday when going through this pile to see what else I could complete for the craft fair that I’ll be a vendor at this weekend, it struck me that I could make them into a wall hanging!!! I love how they turned out!
As a side note you can also do this with other motifs. They don’t have to be skulls. You could do flowers, or hearts or Butterflies for example.
Supplies:
- Crocheted Skulls (Pattern and instructions I followed found here, and I used Peaches and Cream brand 100% Cotton yarn.)
- Coordinating Wired Ribbon (I used almost 9 feet of Floral Garden 2 inch wide wired Ribbon found at the Dollar General.)
- Sewing skills (Either hand or machine sewing, and the notions that go along with that including thread)
Instructions:
- Create the number of skulls you’d like on your project in the desired project.
- Attach the Skulls to the ribbon with pins so you can see how they look and adjust as necessary.
- Sew skulls on the ribbon with a straight stitch on the top and bottom of each skull.
- Loop additional ribbon around so that you have 3 loops on each side when holding it in the middle. Pull/fold or manipulate the ribbon ends as needed to create the tails of a bow. The ribbon that you attached the skulls too should have a longer piece on one side. Fold that over and under the looped ribbon to create your bow. Sew the bow in place securely. I ended up additionally hand sewing in the back of the bow to keep the tails of the bow in place.
Take a look at the video below where I explain a little more in detail:

Have a great day, and keep creating!!
