Painting a Stair Rail

Hi! Donna Beth here! Here are some tips on painting a hand rail for a stair case.

Please see the video tutorial on our facebook page.

Supplies:
Hand Rail – (taken down for ease of painting)
400 grit sandpaper
Paint
Paint stick
Paint brush (I prefer fine bristle brush)

Instructions:

  1. Take hand rail down.
  2. Clean really well. I used baby wipes.
  3. Sand slightly with 400 grit sand paper and wipe with a clean cloth or diaper wipe.
  4. Put coat one on side one making sure not to over brush the paint. Then let dry.
  5. Sand slightly with sandpaper again. Clean with clean cloth or diaper wipe. Put coat two on side one again making sure not to over brush the paint. Then let dry.
  6. Turn over hand rail and since you already sanded everything down in the beginning you can just paint coat one on this side. Then let dry.
  7. Sand slightly with sandpaper again. Clean with clean cloth or diaper wipe. Put coat two on side two again making sure not to over brush the paint. Then let dry.
  8. Look for any areas that need to be touched up and then let dry.
  9. Hang back up and enjoy!

I am a mom of 2, wife, and am always looking to create something myself instead of buying it. I met Katy from Little Katy Bugs after becoming a mom, and we both love to craft, both have active families, and a tactful way of telling others what we truly think. I LOVE THAT!!! Art is subjective and so is crafting. So, you may not love everything we make or do, but our goal is to inspire you to create yourself and make things that you will LOVE! We do still sell some of our crafts on the site, at craft fairs, and Katy now participates in a booth store front. Check out our Facebook page for more on the booth. Sometimes we just need inspiration and camaraderie. I hope we can help provide those things to you. Sincerely Donna Beth, a Co-Blogger of www.LittleKatyBugs.com
